Fourteen years after No Easy Day made him a #1 New York Times bestseller, and the federal government’s legal target, Matt Bissonnette is writing again. This time, under his own name.

No Easy Way is the third memoir from the former SEAL Team Six operator who, writing as Mark Owen in 2012, gave the firsthand account of Operation Neptune Spear, the mission that killed Osama bin Laden. The book that made him famous made him a defendant. What followed was years of civil litigation by the Department of Justice, a $6 million settlement, and a long stretch of public silence.

This book is about everything that happened in that silence.

The lawfare. The mission. The teammates who served with him on thirteen combat deployments. The years of waiting and watching. The decision, finally, to come out of the shadows of a pen name and tell the story under his real name. Most of all, the things that carried him through: Family, Friends, Fun, and Faith.

Matt Bissonnette deployed thirteen times during his fourteen-year Navy career. He served on SEAL Team Six. He participated in the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips and was a team leader on Operation Neptune Spear in Abbottabad, Pakistan. He served as an executive producer on the CBS series SEAL Team. He is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller No Easy Day (2012) and the #3 New York Times bestseller No Hero (2014).

No Easy Way releases in hardcover and audiobook — with Matt Bissonnette narrating his own story for the first time.

What’s Inside

The Mission:  A new perspective on Operation Neptune Spear and what happened in the years that followed.

The Lawfare:  The Department of Justice civil action, the years of litigation, the $6 million settlement, and the personal cost.

SEAL Team Six: Thirteen combat deployments. The teammates who survived, the ones who didn’t, and the ones still serving.

Mark Owen:  Why the pen name, what it meant, and why this book is published under his real name.

Family, Friends, Fun, & Faith: The shift from operator to husband, father, and writer — and the role of faith in that transition.

What comes next:  The conversation around accountability, transparency, and a SEAL’s obligation to history.

FAMILY · FRIENDS · FUN · FAITH

“I’ve said it a million times, and I’ll probably say it a
million more — I didn’t write No Easy Day to portray myself as some sort of
badass operator or to etch my name in the history books. My sole purpose was to
give credit to the SEAL team operators and army airmen who carried out the
mission that night in Abbottabad.”

— Matt Bissonnette

“Raw, emotional, and powerful. Bissonnette’s honest and frankly terrifying account of our government persecuting one of its own citizens is beyond troubling; especially given his profound sacrifices as a dedicated member of our country’s most elite fighting force.

The lawfare, accusations, and relentless attacks levied by malevolent shadowy bureaucrats within our own government coupled with a clearly calculated ostriacization from the SEAL community seems almost unimaginable.

Equally troubling was our governments seeming unwillingness to entertain reasonable compromise after the full circumstances were understood.

It is truly inspiring that despite all of this adversity, Bissonnette, with the grace of God, was able to survive these very dark times in his life. He was able to overcome, remain steadfast, and still choose to honor the SEAL community. Refocusing on Faith, Family, Friends, and Fun, he shares lessons and inspiration for anyone feeling persecuted and alone.

I highly recommend this book! I have no doubt that it will be responsible for saving someone’s life.

An excellent read that exposes the dark underside of the government! As a retired JAG, military judge, and Cobra Army aviator, it is disgusting what the then Democrat Administration did to a decorated Navy SEAL! These are nothing short of out right crimes which would never have occurred under the Trump Administration or any Republican Administration!

Raw and captivating. A real look at who the government is out to protect and it’s always themselves. Matt’s story is a punch to the gut but his contestant look to God is what makes this book special.

Matt’s No Easy Way is a powerful and deeply personal account of what happened after No Easy Day. Rather than focusing only on his military career, Matt writes about the legal battles, financial pressure, personal isolation, and difficult transition that followed. What stands out is his willingness to discuss the emotional cost of those experiences as well as the role that faith, resilience, and community played in helping him move forward. It is an honest and compelling story about perseverance, accountability, and rebuilding a life after years of conflict.

Incredible book

Wow! A modern day parallel to the biblical account of Job! Honestly it was hard to read, not because it wasn't well written but because of the story. When I read a fictional account of something like this it's emotional, but knowing that Matt endured this over such a long period was spellbinding.
Overall it gives great hope that regardless what a person is enduring, by keeping focused on God's plan you can find peace.
Thank you for writing it!

Matt (Mark Owen) is one of the best storytellers. Thank God he wrote NO EASY DAY. We wanted to hear the story how it was actually done. We didn't want to hear the JSOC/DOD/ NSW bs that we all know would have been covered in lies.
Then there was NO HERO. Another great read from Matt about his wins, and failures. Both are fast reads. You don't want to put the book down. You actually feel like you're going through B.U.D.S and Green Team with him.

You feel like you're actually on the roof when he shoots his first guy, or on the Mountain when he feels stuck and scared.
Not many have done more for our country in wartime like Biss, and the people he served with. That's why it pisses me off to hear how the Govt went after him.

It just shows that the scum in the Govt will do everything to be able to control the narrative.

NO EASY WAY is a fabulous book about how our Govt went after one of our best. They might be able to go after Biss on a petty scumbag way, but they'll never be able to take away the respect we have for him.
Read this book!!! Support this man!!! Biss, keep writing. You're great at it. We know there's more stories to be told, and we're here for it. Cheers!

All the best,
J
